SOCIAL MEDIA ETIQUETTE:
The impact of social media on adolescents is significant, but it does not always have to be negative. Cam has a unique and insightful way of engaging with young audiences through his words and interactive presentations. His “Awesome Talks” motivate, inspire and leave everyone with a dynamic and new perspective on how to use social media in ways that add value to the lives of our youth.
BULLYING ON STERIODS:
Every generation has dealt with bullying, but teens today are dealing with what no other generation has had to deal with, cyber-bullying. Cam discusses how the hurt of verbal, physical, cyber, and exclusionary bullying are amplified by cyber-bullying.
Cam shares his experience with being bullied in school, ways to cope with bullying, how to identify peer-pressure, and brings awareness to the most common form of bullying, unconscious bullying. Unconscious bullying comes in many forms and is not thought of as bullying. “Roasting” is one of the most common of its kind.
Cam discusses how to deal with online trolls and the long term consequences of bullying, discusses suicide prevention, brings light to depression, and urges students to be an “annoying friend” if they spot signs of depression or potential suicidal thoughts from a friend. Cam informs students how to become more sensitive when communicating with peers and strangers online.
Cam’s talks can be tailored around your schools bell schedule. Cam shares his social media information at the end of his talk and invites students to participate in his YouTube series “Ask Awesome”. Students can ask questions about the talk and Cam will make a specific YouTube video for your school answering all questions in detail. This leaves more time for Cam to drive home his message during his presentation time. Check out an example of #AskAwesome here:
